Grandma Baker, who made her home with her daughter, Mrs. H. J. Hill, passed away Thursday evening, Nov. 17 at 5 o'clock at the age of 85 years, 8 months and 13 days. She had been a patient sufferer from cancer for some time but was up and about the house a great deal of the time. Her death came quickly and peacefully as her daughter was preparing her evening meal. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Saturday afternoon with the Christian pastor, Rev. D. B. Bennett in charge, who brought a comforting message to the bereaved. A quartet composed of Cecil Robinson, Nick and Roderick Baker and Rudy Alder sang "Rock of Ages," "Under His Wings," and "Will the Circle be Unbroken." The pallbearers were C. O. Masterson, Geo. Kennedy, Frank Stout, Sam Hackney, Royce Richardson and Carl Alder. Burial was in the Wilmore cemetery.
OBITUARY Susan Rillar Woodes was born March 6, 1853, in Colwell County, North Carolina, where she grew to womanhood and on December 17, 1874 was united in marriage to James Gilbert Baker. To this union nine children were born; her husband and three children preceding her in death. She leaves 2 daughters and 4 sons to mourn her departure: Mrs. H. J. Hall, Wilmore, Kans.; Mrs. Emma Profitt, Mound, Okla.; G. W. Baker, Wakita, Okla.; W. C. Baker, Jay, Okla.; C. C. Baker, Trinidad, Colo.; and R. M. Baker, Menard, Texas.
In the year 1901 they moved to Buffalo, Okla. where they homesteaded land and lived there until 1911 when they moved to Mountain View, Mo., where the husband and father died. Since his death she has made her home with her children, the greater part of the time with Mrs. H. J. Hall of Wilmore, Kans.
When a child she realized the need of the Savior's protecting care, giving her life to Christ and living a Christian life until she departed this life at the age of 85 years, 8 months and 11 days.
A loving one from us is gone,
A voice we loved is still.
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.
