Obituary.

Hiram Paul Deewall, son of Edward and Ella Deewall, was born November 7, 1888, near Calusa, Ill., in Hancock county.

He moved with his parents and brother, Roy, to Comanche county, Kansas, in the year 1892, to a farm seven and three quarters mile south of Coldwater, where he lived until his marriage to Rachel Ray Bird, May 21, 1913. To this union were born four children, one daughter and four sons, Orville Edward, Ralph Matthew, Ella Pauline and Stanley Paul.

Paul was a farmer and stockman in this community, having lived five miles north of Coldwater until 1925, when the family moved thirteen miles southeast of the city, after purchasing the Poltera farm, where he lived until his death, May 14, 1962.

Paul became a member of the Coldwater Methodist church December 2, 1910. In the year 1925, he transferred to the Antioch Methodist church where he rendered faithful service until his death.

He served his church, as trustee for about 36 years. He also served as the teacher of the Men's Class, Lay member of the Annual Conference for thirteen years, and church treasurer for about 30 years.

Survivors include the widow, Rachel, and three sons and one daughter; Orville E. Of Chelsea, Okla., Ralph M., Pauline Gilchrist and Stanley Paul, all of Coldwater, Kans.

Eleven grandchildren: Rachelle Stith of Maize, Kans., Ross, Morris and Marleen Deewall, Faye and Paula Gilchrist, Tonia, Paulette, Scott and Bradley Deewall of Coldwater, Michael Deewall of Chelsea, Okla.

Three sisters; Mrs. Ollie Hackney, Mrs. Laura Lohrding, of Coldwater, Ruth Sheperd of Wichita, and one brother, George, of Coldwater.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Roy.

Paul will be greatly missed by his family and friends as he was a true witness for his Savior and his life has been an inspiration to all.

"He loved the House of God;
His dearest wish to be
A minster within her walls
In service full and free.
Beautifully he lived,
We who well loved him know,
Blessings with kindly hands our dead,
Softening death's cruel blow.
Beautifully he died
The Temple floors he trod,
To pass to his reward within
The alter of his God!"
