The funeral services for Roy Edward Deewall were held in the Presbyterian church on Monday, March 10, 1962, at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Deewall suffered a heart attack on Main Street in front of the Variety Store. Dr. McCoy was summoned immediately and emergency treatment was given. Mr. Deewall was taken to the Comanche County Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.Rev. Major W. Parker of Ashland officiated at the services. Mrs. Harold Herd and Mrs. Don Robinson sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Rock of Ages," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Frances Gregg.
Pallbearers were Woodrow Beeley, Charles Gregg, Victor Einsel, Neill Jackson, Elwood Carlisle and Gene Gates. Honorary pallbearers were Otha Landes, Roy Richardson, Dan Jackson,
D. Jay Overocker , Roy Oller, T. C. Mahan, Raymond Parcel, Muriel Gregg, Horace Rich, Clyde Blount, Frank Dale, Melvin Patterson, Albert Oller, Victor Allderdice, Lutzie Poltera, W. W. Darroch, Donald Booth and C. Gardiner Lyon.Interment was in Crown Hill Cemetery, Coldwater, Kansas.
Obituary. Roy Edward Deewall, son of Edward and Ella Deewall, was born July 7, 1890, near Colusa, Illinois, Hancock county.
He moved with his parents and brother, Paul to Comanche county, Kans., in 1892, to a farm 7 3/4 miles south of Coldwater, where he lived until his marriage to Nettie Jane Harter, April 29, 1914.
To this union were born two sons, John Edward and Leroy Arthur.
He was a farmer and rancher in this community all his life, having lived 12 years two miles east of his parents' home, then 13 years on the former Ben Duncan farm and in 1939 they purchased the former Al Hall ranch, southeast of Coldwater, where they lived until his death Friday afternoon, March 16, 1962.
Roy was always interested in community betterment, being school board member 20 years, was a director of the Coldwater Co-op Oil Co., and a member of the Kansas Hereford Association.
Survivors are the widow, two sons, John E., of Wilmore and Leroy A., of Coldwater; four granddaughters, Sharon Adams, Sandra and Virginia Deewall and Elizabeth Deewall; two great grandchildren, Brian and Lesa Adams; three sisters, Mrs. Ollie Hackney and Mrs. Laura Lohrding, Coldwater and Mrs. Ruth Shepherd, Wichita; two brothers, Paul and George, both of Coldwater.
Roy will be greatly missed by his family and all his friends.
