Mrs. Dora E. Holmes, who had been in failing health for several years, passed away at the home of her daughter, Miss Lucille Holmes, of Coldwater Thursday of last week, February 6.Funeral services were held in the Wilmore Baptist church last Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and were in charge of the pastor, Rev. Ernest Lawrence.
A Comforting message from I Cor. 3:16:23, was given to the family and friends by Rev. Lawrence.
Mrs. Leroy Cline and Mrs. Ernest Lawrence sang, "Beyond the Sunset" and "Goodnight Here and Good Morning up There," accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Frances Ridge. The pallbearers were C. O. Masterson, Lawrence York Sr., Lawrence York Jr., Ernest Ferrin, Warren Day and Marvin Downing. Interment was in the Wilmore cemetery.
Obituary. Dora Eloise Owens, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. C. W. Owens, was born September 6, 1874, and passed to her reward on February 6, 1958, in Coldwater, Kans., at the age of 83 years and five months.
On July 20, 1895, she was united in marriage with William Holmes in Cedarvale, Kans. To this union were born four children - one son, R. T. Holmes, of Henryetta, Okla.; and three daughters, Mrs. C. V. Lott of Liberal, Kans.; Mrs. Paul Ungles of Glendale, Calif.; and Miss Lucille Holmes of Coldwater, Kans.
Although in failing health for a number of years, her passing was sudden and unexpected.
Although she was a daughter of a Baptist minister, after moving to Wilmore she united with the Christian church, which was her husband's faith.
She leaves to mourn her passing her four children, 6 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death in 1928.
Mrs. Holmes life was devoted to her family. She was ever ready to lend a helping hand to friends and those in need.
