Obituary Thomas Oliver Larimer was born at Trade, Tenn., February 29, 1888 to Dr. Thomas E. and Mary L. Larimer and passed away March 10, 1960 at Haviland, Kans. He has reached the age of 72 years and nine days. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, two sisters and two brothers.
Oliver grew to manhood at Trade where he attended the grade school and then went to the Appalachian Training School for teachers in Boone, North Carolina.
He came with the family to Wilmore March 12, 1908, and taught at the New Home school during 1908 and 1909. During the next five years he farmed and worked his way through the Washburn Law School in Topeka, graduating in the spring of 1914. He passed the bar examination in Kansas and Oklahoma and established a law office in Enid, Okla., which he operated until his health failed.
He then came back to Wilmore where he farmed with his brothers, with much difficulty, because of his physical illness which developed into a mental illness. Everything was done for him that medical science could do. He entered the Larned State Hospital in January, 1927, where he stayed until 1955. Since then he has been in the Siesta Rest Home at Haviland.
Oliver became a Christian when he was 15 years of age and united with the Baptist church in North Carolina, later uniting with the Wilmore Baptist church. He was always faithful to his Savior and church.
Among those who are saddened by his death are his brother, Lester, of Wichita and a number of other relatives and friends.
Mary Louisa (Oliver) Larimer, mother of Thomas Oliver Larimer.
