William M. Pendergraft, 52, of Garden City, who had been an engineer with Northern Natural Gas Co, for 20 years, died Monday at his home here of apparent self-inflicted gun shot wounds. Born on April 14, 1911, at Tucumcari, N. M., he moved to Finney county in 1950 from Mullinville.He was a member of the Baptist church.
He is survived by a son, Gene, Garden City; daughter, Mrs. Marsha Munoz, Garden City; father, Henry J. Pendergraft, Wilmore; brothers, George, Ft. Smith, Va., and Charles, Wilmore; sisters, Mrs. Flora Drury and Mrs. Julia Elwell, both of Topeka.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the Phillips White Funeral Home, Garden City. Rev. Jon Wade Lurtz, officiating. Additional services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, at the Baptist church in Wilmore with Rev. Ernest Lawrence officiating.
Burial will be in Wilmore cemetery.
