The Wilmore News, February 12, 1920.

OBITUARY

Emma Gertrude Raner was born December 6, 1919, and passed away after a short and sudden illness on Sunday morning, February 8, 1920 at her home six miles north of Wilmore. She is survived by her father, mother, one brother (sic) and one sister.

The funeral service was conducted by Rev. A. W. Cameron, pastor of the Baptist church at the home on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 11, 1920, at 2 o'clock, using as a text Matt. 19:14, Jesus said, "Suffer little children and forbid them not to come unto me; for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven."

Interment was made in the Wilmore Cemetery.

The News joins the people of the community in extending expressions of sympathy to the bereaved parents and relatives.

"We kissed good bye to our darling
In her flight to the City of God,
T'was only the wax and the pigment
That we placed beneath the sod.
For the smiles that fashioned her dimples,
Still ripple in love as she went.
She has gone on a visit to heaven
Till our season of earth's life is spent.
Then let us be brave while we spare her
Her visit to heaven to wing.
Nor be____ what we'd grant an earth ruler
Our darling's the guest of the King."

There is an error in the above obituary for Emma Gertrude Raner: it says she was "survived by her father, mother, one BROTHER (sic) and one sister. Her mother Myrtle's obituary is correct in that it says she was survived by two daughters. Emma was survived by two sisters, Mildred and Nettie. -- Marji Turner, e-mail to Jerry Ferrin, 4 May 2008.
