Obituary

Carl H. Snyder was born near Jones Spring in Berkley county, West Virginia, September 14, 1895, the fourth child in a family of six children. He was left motherless at the age of seven. He passed away in the Comanche County Hospital, Coldwater, Kansas, November 23, at the age of 63 years, 2 months and 9 days.

He came to Sumner county, Kansas in his early youth and worked on the farm of an uncle near Belle Plaine for a few years.

While there he met and married Floy Edith Logan of Belle Plaine in 1916. To this union were born five children. They moved to Springfield, Mo., where they lived for a time before coming to Comanche county, Kansas, where he farmed for several years before moving to Wilmore 36 years ago.

He was employed by the Bowersock Mills and Power co. for about 10 years and had been a distributor for the Champlin Oil and Refining Co. at Wilmore for the last 22 years.

He is survived by his wife, Floy, of the home; two sons, Carl Jr. of Wilmore and Clifford E. of Coldwater; three daughters, Mrs. Doris Potterton and Mrs. Jean Taylor of Wichita and Mrs. Eleanor Unruh of Greensburg; 12 grandsons, 3 granddaughters and one brother, Harold, of Martinsburg, West Virginia. A brother, Lee, of Martinsburg passed away November 1, 1958.

Though he had been ill many months and his suffering was great, he bore it with cheerfulness and courage.

He was a devoted husband and father, a loyal friend and a good neighbor. His was a good natured, friendly personality which will be sadly missed by the family, many friends and the community in which he lived.
