Samuel Booth Dies At the Age of 87 Years

Photo courtesy of Teresa Benz.Funeral services were held for Samuel Booth, 87, Kiowa County farmer, who passed away Saturday December 10, 1960, in the Kiowa County Memorial Hospital, Greensburg, where he has been a patient for 12 days, in the Federated church in Wilmore, Kansas, on Monday December 12, 1960, at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Gerald Hooley and Rev. Ernest Lawrence officiated.
A quartet composed of Mrs. Gerald Hooley, Mrs. Faye Moberley, Walter Smith and Roderick Baker sang "Face to Face" and "Jesus, Savior, Pilot me," with Mrs. Wade Zeigler at the organ.
The pallbearers were nephews of the deceased, Lester Booth, John Booth, Charles Booth, Ivan Booth, Donald Booth, and Fred Booth.
Interment was in the Wilmore cemetery, Wilmore, Kansas.
Obituary Samuel Booth, Jr., was born October 15, 1873 at Morris, in Grundy County, Illinois. In the spring of 1886 he moved to Kiowa County, Kansas, where he lived until his death. He passed from this life at the Kiowa County Memorial Hospital on December 10, 1960.
In 1907 Samuel Booth was united in marriage to Emma Cottle and brought her to his present home, where they resided together until her death in 1947. To this union were born two children, a son, Travis Day, who preceded his father in death in 1927; and a daughter, Pauline.
Samuel Booth was a faithful member of the Christian church for many years.
He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Pauline Bond of the home; two brothers, James Booth of Coldwater and Robert Booth of Wilmore; and three sisters, Mrs. Christina Griffin of Wilmore, Mrs. John Wright of Belvidere and Mrs. Harold Wood of Wilmore; and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
