Gale Haun, son of Mr. and Mrs. Myrl E. Haun of Coldwater, arrived home December 23 for a Christmas leave and left on Tuesday of this week for San Diego to resume his duties as fireman on a destroyer which has been undergoing repairs since last July.

The ship will leave for Korean waters this week and Gale expects to be gone from the six to eight months this time. He previously had seen four months of sea duty in the Korean area. He likes Navy life very much and it appears to agree with him, also.

The people of the Coldwater community were saddened this week to learn that Gale Haun, 28, owner of the Gamble Store in Macksville, had died Tuesday night in the Kiowa County Hospital in Greensburg, where he had been several weeks, following several months of treatment in the Veterans Hospital in Wichita. He was a victim of Hodgkins Disease, which he had for some time. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Myrl E. Haun of Coldwater.

Funeral services will be held in the Christian church in Coldwater Friday afternoon of this week at 2 p.m. and burial will be in the Crown Hill cemetery near this city.

An account of the services and of his life will be published in the Star next week.

Gale Haun, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Haun of Coldwater, passed away in the Kiowa County Hospital in Greensburg Tuesday of last week, December 9. He had been in declining health for 17 months.

Funeral services were held in the Coldwater Christian church Friday afternoon, December 12, at 2:00 o'clock and were in charge of the pastor, Rev. Ed Bridwell, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Cline sang, "In the Garden" and Raymond Cline sang, "The Lord's Prayer." Accompanists were Mrs. Roy Burkhall and Miss Mabel Crouse.

Pallbearers were Victor Willard, Merrel Davidson, Fred Schenk, Art Wellner, N. W. Branson and Ivan Elliott. Masonic services were held at the graveside in Crown Hill cemetery by Comanche Lodge No. 295, A. F. & A. M.

Cleamon Gale Haun was born in Liberal, Kansas, August 29, 1930. He passed from this life in this hospital in Greensburg, Kans., December 9, 1958 at the age of 28 years, 3 months and 10 days. Before moving to Coldwater with his parents, he was united with Christ and identified with the First Christian church. He attended the schools in Coldwater graduating in 1948.

He was united in marriage to Eleanor Jackson August 17, 1952, at Coldwater.

He was a veteran of service with the U. S. Navy during the Korean war and was a member of the Coldwater high school "C" Club, Comanche Lodge No. 295, A. F. & A. M., the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

Gale, his wife and family moved to Macksville in March of 1957, where they operated their Gamble Store. He has been a member of the Coldwater Christian church since 1941. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Eleanor; two children, Andrea and Charles; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Haun; his brother, Gary; grandmother, Mrs. Carrie Stephens of El Reno, Okla., and many other relatives and a host of friends. During all his suffering he never complained. He was a young man of the highest type.
