A. F. Moore, widely known farmer and stockman of Protection, suffered a heart attack and died suddenly Saturday morning while working at the farm of his son, Paul. Although he was 78 years old, his death came as a complete shock and surprise to his friends as he appeared to be in good health.Funeral services were conducted for him Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Methodist Church. Rev. E. M. Pearson, pastor of the Baptist Church of which Mr. Moore was a member, had charge.
Mrs. George Herron, Mrs. Albert Holler, Edgar Deck and J. D. Rowland sang, "In the Garden of Prayer," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Rock of Ages." Mrs. Lewis Hopkins was the organist.
Casket bearers were Frank Rogers, W. W. Riner, Clifford Sibbitt, George Herron, Emerson Roller, and Virgil Harvey.
Honorary bearers were Walter Teter, Richard Sigars, A. B. Shoemaker, C. F. Nichols, C. E. Hendrix, O. M. Edmonston, W. J. Lehman, and Claude Rowland.
Interment was in the Protection cemetery. Peacock Mortuary had charge of arrangements.
OBITUARY
Allan F. Moore, son of William and Harriett Moore, was born in Farmer City, Ill., August 31, 1873, and passed away November 24, 1951, at the age of 78 years.
He came to Kansas with his parents at an early age and they settled on a farm near Arlington, after moving to Pretty Prairie, then later to Gray County.
Mr. Moore worked for a number of years as a farm laborer and ranch foreman then bought a farm near Spivey, Kansas.
He was married on March 30, 1902 to Myrtle Hart. Mr. and Mrs. Moore came to the Protection vicinity about 38 years ago and have made their home here since.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, one daughter, Mrs. John Loesch of Protection; four sons, Paul Russell, Ralph and Merton, all of Protection; two sisters, Cora Gilchrist of Rago, Kans., and Daisy Rankin of Marion, Kans.; one brother, Add Moore of Cherokee, Okla.; 11 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Moore was a member of the Protection Baptist Church.
He was a kind and loving companion and father and will be missed by loved ones and friends.
