The Wilmore News, July 19, 1929. OBITUARY
Henrietta Davis was born at Newark, New Jersey, October 27, 1863. She died at the Ninnescah hospital, Pratt, Kansas, July 13, 1929. Her age was 65 years, 8 months and 16 days.
She moved with her parents to Ottumwa, Iowa in 1881, where she married Jasper N. Raner, November 15, 1882. She, with her husband, came overland and settled on a homestead, in the spring of 1883, five miles southeast of the old town of Saratoga, located in Pratt county, Kansas. There they lived until 1893, when they moved to Woods county, Oklahoma.
They moved back to Pratt county, Kansas, in 1900. In 1910 they moved to the farm north of Wilmore.
Since the death of her husband on June 15, 1914, she has made her home in and near Wilmore.
To this union were born eleven children, six of whom preceded her in death.
The surviving children are: John Raner, Wilmore; Emma Snare, Lansing; Jasper N. Raner, Jr., Granada, Colorado; W. B. and James Raner, Los Angeles, California. Also, she leaves thirteen grandchildren; one brother, Henry Davis, North Long Branch, New Jersey; one sister, Emily Simmons, North Long Branch, New Jersey.
Mrs. Raner was a kind, loving mother and grandmother. For the past five years she mothered her two little motherless granddaughters, caring for them with the same love and devotion that she gave her own.
She was known in her community for her deeds of kindness in sickness and distress. She was held in high esteem by all who knew her, and she shall be greatly missed.
The family has the sympathy of the entire community in their hour of great sorrow.
Henrietta Raner is buried in the Wilmore Cemetery.
