Steven Scott Scherich was born April 28, 1966, in McPherson, Kansas, to Phyllis and Larry "Dee" Scherich. Steve lived and attended school in Inman, Kansas, where his dad taught high school science until he moved, with his family, to the Merrill Ranch 27 miles SE of Coldwater in the summer of 1976. He graduated from Coldwater High School in 1984, where he participated and excelled in athletics, especially track where he received 3rd, 5th, & 6th place medals at the State Track Meet his senior year. He was named to the National Honor Society, was Stuco president, and football homecoming king.He attended Emporia State University for two years, then transferred to Wichita State University where he received his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering in 1988. He worked as a controls engineer for several years with various companies.
On December 14, 1996 he married Sandra Jean (Redman) in Bethalto, Illinois. Sandra was born August 30, 1962, to David E. and Mary L. (Romo) Redman in Wood River, Illinois. She attended school at Civic Memorial High School, Bethalto, Illinois, graduating in 1980. Sandy graduated Cum Laude from Maryville University in St. Louis with a bachelor of arts degree in Psychology/Sociology. Their daughter, Sarah Elizabeth, was born in Kansas City, Missouri, May 3, 1999. She is a first grade student at Sunny Pointe Elementary in Blue Springs. Her interests include dance, cheerleading, reading and gymnastics. In June of this year Sarah received the Dancer of the Year award out of 50 students at their annual recital. Along with receiving her award, the highlight of her recital was a special dance performance with her dad, Steve.
Steve, Sandy and Sarah live in Blue Springs, Missouri. Steve is employed as an Electrical Controls Engineer by Harley Davidson of Kansas City, Missouri. His other interests include photography and computers. Sandy is employed as a Legal Assistant at McDowell Rice Smith & Buchanan in Kansas City, Missouri. Her interests include reading and gardening.
