Funeral Held at Wilmore Saturday

Services were held for Lloyd Lewis Alder on Saturday, October 19, 1963 at 2:00 p.m. in the Baptist church in Wilmore.

Rev. Ernest Lawrence officiated. Mrs. Frances Ridge accompanied Walter Smith who sang "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder" and "Someday We Will Understand."

Pallbearers were Virgil Scherich, Burke Burnette, Delmer Ferrin, Carl Snyder, Jr., Homer Pierce and Lawrence York. Honorary pallbearers were F. H. Moberley, Alva Trummel, Paris Alley, Marvin Downing, Jess Weddell and Tom Pepperd.

Interment was in the Wilmore Cemetery, Wilmore, Kans.

Obituary

Lloyd L. Alder, son of James T. and Sarah C. Alder, was born July 26, 1891 at Sneedville, Tenn. He passed away October 16, 1963 at the age of 72 years, 2 months, and 20 days as a result of an automobile accident.

On January 12, 1915, he was united in marriage with Margaret Mae Baldwin at Sneedville, tenn. To this union were born eight children, six of whom survive.

He spent most of his early life in Tennessee, attended grade school at Dry Branch, where his father was his teacher, and where he, himself later taught. He graduated from high school at Sneedville. After teaching for while, Lloyd served in both the Navy and the regular Army during peace time. In 1910 he came to Kansas, where he spent the balance of his life.

Lloyd was converted at an early age in Tennessee, and moved his church letter to the Wilmore Baptist church in 1933.

He was preceded in death by two sons: John Baldwin and Lloyd L. Jr. (Jargy); one sister, Lillie McCray; and four brothers, Dan, Hubert, John and Grant.

Besides his widow, Margaret, he is survived by six children; Mrs. Bea O'Dell, Igancio, Colo.; Mrs. Mace Evans, Claflin, Kans.; Mrs. Helen Cole, Argonia, Kans.; Miss Althea, Waukegan, Ill.; J. B. Carl Alder, Ellsworth, Kans.; and Rudyard T. Alder, Wellington, Kans.

He also leaves to mourn his passing three sisters; Mrs. W. B. (Pearl) Roberts, Prairie Village, Kans.; Mrs. Belle Lohman, Phoenix, Ariz.; and Mrs. Fannie Burchett, Nashville, Tenn. Four brothers, Jesse, Sneedville, Tenn.; Robert, Fayetteville, Tenn.; Calvin, Maryland, and Raymond, Florence, Kans., 21 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Lloyd was a devoted, consistent, helpful companion and father. His happy, jovial manner will well be remembered by all who came in contact with him.
