At right: Margaret Mae (Baldwin) AlderMrs. Margaret Mae Alder (Maggie) 72, died Sunday morning, June 9, 1968, at the Comanche County Hospital, Coldwater, after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 11, 1968, at the Hatfield Mortuary in Coldwater with Rev. Alice Watters in charge of services. Walter Smith sang "Higher Ground" and "In The Garden" accompanied by Mrs. Frances Ridge, organist.
Pallbearers were Fred Booth, Burke Burnette, Carl Snyder, Phillip Hackney, Darrell Smith, and Myrl Dellinger. Honorary pallbearers were F. H. Moberley, Harold Herd, Charles Gregg, T. R. Cary, Virgil Scherich, Ernest Ferrin, Muriel Gregg, Valtos Richardson, Marvin Downing, Vernon Pepperd and B. M. Seaman.
O. E. S. services were held by Grace Chapter No. 394, Wilmore.
Obituary Margaret Mae Alder, daughter of Edwin K. and Mary Ann Baldwin, was born February 29, 1896 in Sneedville, tenn. She was united in marriage to Lloyd L. Alder on January 12, 1915. Mr. Alder was killed in an accident October 16, 1963. To this union eight children were born, six of whom survive. Two children, John Baldwin and Lloyd L., Jr., (Jargy) preceded her in death.
After their marriage in Sneedville, they moved back to Wilmore and stayed until August, 1916, when they went back to Sneedville. Then from there they moved to Salisbury, Md., and Princess Anne, Md., and from there to Pritchett, Colo. in 1927, the family moved back to Wilmore where she has made her home since.
"Maggie," as she was affectionately known, is survived by daughters, Beatrice Odell, Wilmore, Mace Evans, Claflin, Helen Wempen, Argonia, Althea Alder, Wildwood, Ill.; sons Carl Alder, Dodge City, Rudyard T. Alder, Wellington; one sister, Jessie Haslam of Providence, R. I.; 21 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Maggie was a member of Grace Chapter O. E. S., Wilmore Baptist church, V. F. W. and American Legion Auxiliaries, E. H. U. Sunflower, and the Good neighbor club. She was a longtime resident of Wilmore and was a Star mail carrier there for 30 years.
Maggie Alder is buried in the Wilmore Cemetery.
