John Janson, Wilmore, retired farmer, passed away at 2 p.m. in St. Anthony's hospital in Dodge City last Friday afternoon. He had been in failing health for more than a year, due to cancer of the jaw.Funeral services were held in the Wilmore Methodist church at 2:30 p.m. last Sunday and were in charge of the pastor, Rev. G. J. Walker. A mixed quartet composed of Mrs. F. H. Moberley, Marvin Belcher, Mrs. Arthur Baker, and Rod Baker, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," and "Rock of Ages." Mrs. Wade Zeigler was the accompanist.
Burial was in the Wilmore cemetery by the side of his wife. The pallbearers were Fay Smith, E. D. Hubbard, Van Lott, Leo Thornberry, C. O. Masterson and O. H. McCorkle.
Obituary John Janson, son of John and Sarah Janson, was born in New York City October 21, 1874, and passed away April 29, 1949, in St. Anthony's hospital in Dodge City, Kans., at the age of 74 years, 6 months and 8 days.
Mr. Janson came with his parents to Coldwater, Kansas in the spring of 1884 and was a resident of Comanche county 65 years. His father passed away in 1915 and his mother died in 1941 at the age of 86 years.
In 1909 Mr. Janson was united in marriage with Mrs. Lula Nelson-Seaman in Coldwater. Mrs. Janson passed away October 15, 1941. He is survived by three brothers, William Janson of Wilmore, Fred Janson of Liberal, Kans., and Claude Janson of Cozad, Nebr., and by two sisters, Mrs. Mae Helbert of Wichita and Mrs. Dollie White of Tecoma, Wash.; also by three step-children, Bernarr Seaman of Wilmore, Albert Seaman of Hutchinson and Mrs. Kathryn Puckett of Montrose, Colo.
Mr. Janson was engaged in farming until a few years ago when he retired because of failing health. He was a member of the Wilmore Methodist church and was an upright citizen, kindly and helpful whenever opportunity presented itself to aid others.
The sorrowing relatives have the sympathy of all.
