S. Fay Smith Dies Monday

Stephen Fay Smith, 80, died Monday, December 3, 1979, at Pioneer Lodge rest home, Coldwater. Born June 30, 1899 in Wilmore, he married Velma Ridge on February 17, 1923 at Greensburg. He was a retired farmer.

He was a member of the Coldwater Christian church and was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors are the widow of the home; sons: Forrest, Sterling; Melvin, Salina, Okla.; daughters: Mrs. Lorita Harrison of Dallas, Texas; Mrs. Virginia Linnell of Los Angeles; sisters: Mrs. Maudlee Ray, Wichita; Mrs. Edna Hayes of Enid, Okla.; Mrs. Keren Bogar, Twin Falls, Idaho; 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the church with Gib Clark officiating. Burial will be at the Wilmore cemetery.

Note: Wife of S. Fay Smith. Velma L. Ridge, daughter of Arthur C. Ridge and Clara (Hayes) Ridge.
She wrote a book, "The Little Grey Stone Church", about the Christian Church in Wilmore, which was published by her grandson, Tony Harrison.
