Mrs. Nellie Lawson Malone passed away at the Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater on Sunday, November 30, 1969.Funeral services were held at the Hatfield Funeral Home in Coldwater, Kansas, Wednesday, December 3, 1969, at 2 p.m. with Bernard E. Plumb in charge of the services.
Mrs. Martha Cline and Mrs. Lena Haun sang "Sunrise Tomorrow and "Beyond The Sunset" accompanied by the organist, Mrs. Francis Burkhall.
Pallbearers were Ernest Parker, Sam Lawrence, John Kittell, Willie Schenk, Warren Bransom, and Ray Squires. The nurses at the Pioneer Lodge served as honorary pallbearers. Interment was in Crown Hill cemetery, Coldwater, Kans.
Obituary. Nellie Malone, daughter of John Wesley and Lydia Clay Lawson, was born April 10, 1876 at Petersburg, Ill.
She departed this life Sunday, November 30, 1969, at the Comanche County Hospital after a long illness.
She came to Harper county, Kansas at the age of three years.
She is the last survivor of a family of seven children.
On August 15, 1894 she was united in marriage with James Henry Malone at Freeport, Kans.
They both became members of the United Brethern church in their early married life. They homesteaded in the Paruna community, Harper county, Oklahoma in 1902.
Their last move was to Coldwater, Kans., in 1936.
To this union were born eight children, four sons and four daughter.
One daughter, Zelma, preceded them in death at the age of eight months.
Her husband preceded her in death on July 11, 1956.
She leaves to mourn her passing four sons, Gene of Buffalo, Okla., Jay of Liberal, Kans., and twins, Floyd of Kingman, Kans., and Lloyd of Coldwater; three daughters, Irma, Mrs. John Rogers, Woodward, Okla., Velma, Mrs. Dave Scholle, and Violet, Mrs. Ted Frederick, Coldwater; 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren , four great, great, grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be greatly missed by all.
