Mrs. John H. White, who had been in failing health for several years passed away on July 4, 1963, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Glenn Redfield, at Sun City, Kans.Funeral services were held in the Wilmore Methodist church Wednesday afternoon and were in charge of Rev. Major W. Parker, pastor of the Coldwater Methodist church. A mixed quartet composed of Mrs. F. H. Moberley, Mrs. Arthur Barber, Ray Bigbee and Marvin Belcher sang, "God Will Take Care of You," "Sometime We'll Understand" and "Face to Face," accompanied by Miss Ernestine Hubbard.
There were many floral offerings as evidence of the high regard in which Mrs. White was held. The pallbearers were six neighbors of the deceased: Vernon and Ray Pepperd, Ed and Nick Baker, and Lester and Ronald Trummel. Burial was in Crown Hill cemetery by the side of her parents.
Obituary Zelma Hazel White, youngest daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Emily Baker, was born on the old home ____ eight miles southeast of Wilmore, Kans., March 19, 1889, and passed away at Sun City, Kans., July 4, 1943, at the age of 54 years, ____ months and 15 days. She was united in marriage with John H. White in July, 1905, at Greensburg, Kans. To this union were born four children, three sons and one daughter, all of whom survive. She had spent most of her life in and near Wilmore until the family moved to Burdett about twelve years ago.
Mrs. White was converted at an early age, uniting with the Methodist church. She was always interested in church work and as long as her health permitted was a regular attendant.
She had been in failing health for a number of years and a few years ago suffered a paralytic stroke from which she never fully recovered, though all that could be done by loving care and medical attention was done to restore her health.
A few days before her death came she was again stricken, and He who doeth all things well, saw fit to end her suffering and called her home.
Mrs. White was devoted to her home and family, and her love, counsel and loyalty will be missed as only a true mother's can.
She leaves to mourn her passing her faithful husband, John H. White, of Burdett, Kans., three sons, Walter, of Jackson, Tenn., John Jr., of Burdett, Richard, now in the service and stationed at Ft. Lewis, Wash., the daughter, Mrs. Jesse Redfield of Sun City, Kans., and seven grandchildren. Also four sisters and two brothers - Mrs. G. H. Wright of Tempe, Ariz., Mrs. Nellie Wall of Coldwater, Kans., Mrs. Ethel Trummel, Mrs. Alice Grace, Harry Baker and L. E. Baker, all of Wilmore, and a host of other relatives and friends.
