S/O Ransom Henry and Tina Bell Harville Ashens.
At age 17 he signed up with the Civilian Conservation Corp. He spent six
months at Caledonia, Minn., and then one and a half years at Camp Chilly
and Camp Rockland in Idaho. He built dams, fought forest fires and still
found time to attend school and play baseball. In April 1946, he accepted
a job with the Department of Agriculture as a food inspector in Hutchinson
and has lived there ever since. He was later employed by Meadow Gold
Dairy, Hutchinson Iron and Metal and Reno County Law Enforcement Center,
retiring in 1986. He belonged to Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church,
where he held several offices and had previously belonged to the Derby
Running Club. He was a baseball coach when each of his three sons was in
Cub Scouts and Little League. He was also a member of the Carey Park Golf
Club, formerly of the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68 and the
Prospectors Sunday School Class. He was working in Joplin, Mo., when he
was drafted into the U.S. Army Air Corp on Aug. 5, 1942, during World War
II, serving as a Corporal in the 319th Fighter Control Squadron. He spent
a total of 40 months in service, 26 of them overseas; New Caledonis,
Guadalcanal, Russell Islands, Emeru, Mindeneau in the Philippines,
Bismarch Archipelligo, Leyete, The Solomons and on to Osaka, Japan, in the
Occupation Forces. He was discharged December 1945. He was preceded in
death by six brothers, Ray Franklin, Ransom Joseph, Ernest Henry, Robert
James, Burt Alva and Oscar Ashens; and four sisters, Della Nichols, Ethel
Wilks, Daisy Kaufman and Marguerite Ashens.

Becker. He was a 1957 graduate of Schoharie, N.Y. High School and a 1963
graduate of Indiana Tech. He was a civil engineer, working for Turzillo
Contracting Company of Omaha from 1963 to 1984, Borton, Inc. of Hutchinson
from 1984 to 1997 and Longfellow Foundations, based from Clearfield, Iowa,
1997 to present. He was of the Lutheran faith. He was a member of Kansas
State University Victory Club, National Rifle Association and the Central
Kansas Gun Club. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1955 to
1962. He was preceded in death by his parents. Military Honors conducted
by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.

On May 27, 1962, he married Barbara Ann Southard at Haviland. She survives. Robert was a printer for 31 years, working at R.L. Polk, Mutual Press, and Roberts Hutch-Line, retiring in 1991. In 1966, he received an honorable discharge from the Air National Guard after serving six years as a jet engine mechanic. He also was an active member of the Hutchinson Police Reserve for many years, retiring in 1989 at the rank of sergeant. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he was a familiar sight at his sons and grandchildren's activities. In particular, he loved attending their sporting events, school programs and scouting activities. He also was a history buff and longtime fan of Royals baseball and KU Jayhawks basketball. Robert was preceded in death by: an infant daughter, Christine Diane; his parents; and a brother, James. |

She married Joseph Dee Cox Sr. on Sept. 8, 1940, in Enid, Okla. They moved to Hutchinson in the 1960s. He died on Nov. 27, 1996. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Barry Evan Cox; and a sister, Mildred Bender. |

S/O Delbert and Molly Bryan Culver. He
graduated from Ensign High School, joined the U.S. Navy and served during
World War II. After World War II, he returned to the farm near Cimarron.
During the winter months, he worked for the Ensign Implement Company. He
retired from farming in the early 1990s. They moved to Hutchinson in 1995.
He married Betty L. Sipes on Feb. 25, 1945, in Dodge City. She passed away on May 26, 2000. He was preceded in death by his brother, Leroy. |

He was president of the Kansas Engineering Society, Hutchinson Chapter, and was active in 4-H. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert; and a sister, Sharon Darrow. Burial with military graveside rites conducted by the U.S. Naval Reserve. |

1961, he married Pauline LeShure in Hutchinson. She died March 3, 2004. He
was preceded in death by a
stepson, Delos Smith; and a brother, Austin.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, serving as a First Lieutenant, 4th Armored Division from 1943 to 1946, receiving the Bronze Star Medal and the Battlefield Commission. On Aug. 17, 1940, he married Dorothy Shields in Dallas, Texas. She died July 8, 1996. He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Kent Kline; and a brother, John Kline. |

of Ottawa University with a B.A., Ottawa, Kan., 1959 graduate of Fort Hays
State University with his M.S., Hays, and received his Doctorate in School
Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado in 1969, Greeley,
Colo. A resident of Colorado Springs since 1964, he was a nationally
certified school psychologist, retiring in 1999 after spending 42 years
teaching in Alden, Sterling, McPherson and Colorado Springs. He belonged
to First Presbyterian Church of Colorado Springs, Colo., and many
professional and educational organizations where he held numerous offices.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947 in the Occupation of Japan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
