Death Comes to Josh Pendergraft

Josh Pendergraft, a Wilmore resident for many years, died April 22 in Pioneer Lodge, Coldwater, at the age of 93 years.

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 26, 1971, in the Hatfield Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. and were in charge of Rev. Aljoe Watters, pastor of the Wilmore Baptist church.

The singers, Mrs. A. L. Martens and Mrs. Gary Trummel, sang "Does Jesus Care" and "Near to the Heart of God" and were accompanied by Mrs. Frances Ridge.

Pallbearers were Ed Baker, Fred Booth, Lester Fry, Jr., Carl Snyder, Lawrence York, Jr., and August Metzger. The honorary pallbearers were Marvin Downing, Paris Alley, F. H. Moberley, George Sawley, Harold Wood, and Lawrence York, Sr.

Interment was in the Wilmore cemetery.

Obituary

Henry Joshua Pendergraft was born April 17, 1878, in McDonald county, Missouri, and was united in marriage October 31, 1897, with Miss Flocie Patterson. She died December 4, 1963.

He was a retired farmer and lived at Wilmore most of his life. He was a member of the Wilmore Baptist church.

Survivors include sons: Charles, Wilmore; George, Portsmouth, Va.; daughter, Mrs. Flora Drury, Boise, Idaho; sisters, Mrs. Anna Patterson, Joplin, Mo.; Mrs. Stella Carden, Stella, Mo.; Mrs. Ella Mclaughlin, Blackwell, Okla.; Mrs. Nina Atkinson, Pittsburg, nine grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren.

Helen Margaret (Wood) Pendergraft, wife of Charles A. Pendergraft; daughter-in-law of of Henry Joshua and Flocie (Patterson) Pendergraft.

Charles Arnold, Jr. & Ralph Wayne Pendergraft, sons of Charles and Helen Margaret (Wood) Pendergraft; grandsons of of Henry Joshua and Flocie (Patterson) Pendergraft.

Jack Vernon Pendergraft, son of Charles and Helen Margaret (Wood) Pendergraft; grandson of of Henry Joshua and Flocie (Patterson) Pendergraft.

Samuel & Christina (Baird) Booth
Parents of 13 children; ancestors of many people in Comanche & Kiowa counties in Kansas; grandparents of Helen Margaret (Wood) Pendergraft.

Christina Sadie (Booth) Wood Griffin, mother of Helen Margaret (Wood) Pendergraft.

The BOOTH Descendants of The Bairds of Lanarkshire in Comanche and Kiowa Counties, Kansas.
