The Western Star, page 8, June 16, 1933. On Memorial Day, May 30, we took a stroll through Crown Hill Cemetery near this city, and as we did so took notice of the names on the tombstones, we were impressed with the large list of pioneer settlers in this county who are buried there. We could not help but think that somehow those pioneers should have some kind of special recognition, for it was they who, through years of labor and sacrifice, helped to make our county what it is today.

J. W. YorkSecuring the list above has been a rather difficult task, and it is quite probable that some errors and omissions have been made. We will be glad to make any corrections necessary, if our attention is called to any errors in the list. We would like to make the list as complete and as accurate as possible.
A total of 193 (sic) names are listed above. It will be noticed that only the actual Pioneers are listed - those that came to this county within ten years after the county began to be settled. The sons and daughters of the pioneers are not listed unless they were "grown-ups" when they came to this county. (End of article from The Western Star.)
